Ways to serve
There are so many ways to put your faith in action in a tangible way! Here are some ideas for using your time and talents to serve Habitat:
Pray
One of the most important things you can do as a faith community is to be in prayer for Habitat for Humanity. Our mission is to “Put God’s love in action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.” We need your prayer to keep us going and to surround our homeowners, volunteers, board, and staff as we strive to fulfill our mission in the Anderson community.
We invite you to be praying for:
Safety for our staff and volunteers on our build sites
God’s provision of building supplies and monetary donations
Patience for future homeowners as they complete sweat equity and wait to begin work on their new home
God to direct Habitat to the greatest housing needs in Anderson County
Volunteer
We have volunteer opportunities throughout the year where groups from your church can put their faith into action by helping to build a house (or getting involved at the ReStore)! Both individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer. To find volunteer opportunities and sign up, click here. For youth volunteer opportunities, see our Youth in Action page.
Invite habitat to speak
One of the best ways to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity is to help create awareness in your faith community. Awareness spurs on prayer, prayer spurs on action, action spurs on change in our community. Whether you invite us to your church for a presentation, have us speak at your adult Sunday school, or have a special Sunday service on affordable housing, your faith community can help to spread awareness of what Habitat for Humanity does in our community. We invite you to prayerfully consider how your faith community can help to spread awareness in our community.
Get plugged in to any of these opportunities by contacting engagement@habitatanderson.org. Have an idea but don’t see it here? You can share that, too. We’d love to hear from you!
