Each year, this event is a time to celebrate our Habitat family — volunteers, donors and homeowners. It is a night to give thanks and to share our vision for the future, for a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and how you can help make it reality.
The dinner was held on Dec. 4 at Anderson University. We enjoyed great food and fellowship and two wonderful speakers. Habitat board member Dr. Tom Kayrouz from AnMed Health shared his perspective on affordable housing and how important it is to overall health and well-being. Habitat homeowner Megan told us what her home means to her her, and she was excited to share that she hosted her whole family for her first Thanksgiving in her new home! Volunteer George Mason once again made beautiful hand-turned wooden ornaments for our centerpieces, and you helped us raised $11,000 for affordable housing in Anderson County!
DANCING FOR OUR HEROES
Kylie Herbert was Habitat's "celebrity" dancer in this year’s Dancing for Our Heroes event! Inspired by the popular television show “Dancing with the Stars,” this local interpretation put on by the Rotary Club of Greater Anderson allows teams to raise money for charities in Anderson County.
Kylie danced with Davis Bannister to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County. The event theme this year was Vegas acts, and Kylie and Davis were a huge hit with their foxtrot to Dean Martin's classic Vegas theme, "Ain't that a Kick in the Head."
