a hand up

At Habitat, we like to think of what we do as a hand up, not a hand out.  Your contributions help us give a hand up to families in need of affordable housing.

You can contribute to Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County's mission in the following ways:

+ home sponsorship

every organization can make a difference

Partner with Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County and help to fight poverty housing while building a stronger community for all. Corporate donations and sponsorship help build homes alongside hard-working, low-income families in Anderson County.

You and your business could help us build our next home in partnership with a hardworking family in need. Consider funding a Habitat Anderson home.

What will you build with us?

If you have questions, please contact us at development@habitatanderson.org

+ carpenter club

Carpenter Club members make a lasting difference!

Becoming a Carpenter Club member is an easy and meaningful way you can be part of our ministry for as little as $25 a home.

Carpenter Club members pledge a donation for every home completed (maximum of 5 per year). Each time we complete a home, you will receive a letter inviting you to celebrate with us and the home dedication and notifying you of your pledge due.

Every dollar of your donation will go toward our affordable home-ownership program!

Carpenter Club membership levels are:

  • Carpenter: $25 per home
  • Master Carpenter: $50 per home
  • Builder: $100 per home
  • Hope Builder: $250 per home
  • Dream Builder: $500 per home

To sign up, email development@habitatanderson.org and include your name, address, phone number and giving level. For more information, call Kylie Herbert, director of development, at 864-375-1177 ext. 1002.

+ legacy giving

As you plan for your future and the security of loved ones, Habitat for Humanity has numerous legacy giving options that allow you to make a meaningful gift to support the ministry’s home building after your lifetime. Some of the most popular methods are:

  • Charitable Lead Trust
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Charitable Gift Annuity
  • Gift By Bequest
  • Real Estate
  • Securities
  • Life Insurance Proceeds/Policy
  • Personal Property
  • Life Estate
  • Retirement Assets

Please consider this information a starting point. The most effective legacy gifts are made in coordination with an estate plan, but we have provided some language you can use for a simple bequest. The official legal bequest language for Habitat for Humanity is: "I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Habitat for Humanity Anderson, Inc. [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose."

+ in-kind gifts

Habitat’s work in the community is often supported by in-kind gifts – donations of goods, materials or services the organization would otherwise need to purchase. In-kind donations are much like a financial donation – you will receive recognition as a donor and the value of the good or service you provide will be tax-deductible. In-kind gifts provide you the opportunity to share your skills, assets, or services with Habitat Anderson and receive valuable publicity in exchange for your gift.

There are many types of in-kind donations. Here are a few that would greatly benefit Habitat Anderson:

  • Subcontractor services
  • Building materials
  • Construction equipment and materials
  • Property – including land and homes - learn more
  • Trailers or trucks for hauling building equipment
  • Box truck for ReStore donation pickups
  • Food or drinks for volunteers or special events
  • Prizes for special events or auctions
  • Event space
  • Office supplies
  • Marketing services

Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County is always in need of assistance from its invaluable partners in the community. If you have an in-kind donation that you are interested in contributing, please contact us at info@habitatanderson.org
